Lauda Started in the Back Row, but Then…
Teams Ferrari, BRM, and Fittapaldi showed for this year’s German Grand Prix on Steve’s majestic full version of Nurbergring. Fittapaldi’s Hoffman held pole position on the starting grid accompanied by BRM’s Ashely on the front row. Fittapaldi and Regazzoni were in the second row. Ferrari’s Lauda was alone in the last row.

Hoffman dominated the first section of the course and gained the first bonus point. The BRM slipped back.

Lauda moved through the pack and placed pressure on Hoffman. Hoffman gained the second bonus point, but at great cost to his cars endurance. Ragazzoni also began moving up.

Lauda caught Hoffman and then passed him to win the race. Regazzoni passed Hoffman flying down the front straight to take second. Hoffman finished 3rd. Details follow:
